Across the country, principally in the Midwest, parents are waking up hearing those two dreaded words - Snow Day! And it's not that they don't enjoy spending additional time with their children, it's what to do when they hear those other words - I'm board.
Many parents are discovering arts and crafts for their children and the joy it brings to both them and their kids when they share hours of creative activities that stimulate both the mind and spirit.
Some, if not all crafts, can be messy, particularly for the younger family members, so purchasing aprons for kids would be the first step to making a 'craft day' into one of protected clothing and light, quick clean up.
Probably one of the messiest crafts is pottery, even without a pottery wheel, the clay and dirt it leaves behind along with painting and glazes can sometimes cause unavoidable spills and leave stains on the front of a child's clothing. Aprons help to protect clothing and even though they may be creating works of art in 'play clothes' in today's economy, saving clothing from stains will help to save money on laundry soap, utility bills and the clothing could possibly be handed down to a sibling if they are saved from damage.
Crafts like sand painting or something that requires a lot of gluing would have children rubbing their hands on their shirt fronts or sides of their pants and an apron could save their clothing from destruction. Younger children do not realize the value of keeping their clothing clean and free from stains; however, they are willing to imitate adults and if mom or dad is wearing an apron, they will likely want to wear aprons for kids, too.
Aprons for kids can be found in a variety of colors, sizes and patterns for both boys and girls, with pockets to hold crayons, pencils, paint brushes and other art supplies close at hand. Girls might prefer pretty pastel colors of pink, yellow or purple trimmed in lace or polka-dot ribbons. Boys would probably like an apron with trucks, cars, trains or other modes of transportation scattered about the front, or their favorite cartoon character or super hero. Boy's aprons are typically constructed out of heavy-duty materials in the darker tones such as green, brown or black. A camouflage pattern in dark green, dessert brown or pink and tan for the girls is also popular material color choices at the moment.
Besides being made out of different patterned materials, many of the aprons for kids can be purchased in a wide variety of fabric such as vinyl-like cloth that is more waterproof to be used for crafts or in a cotton-blended fabric for use when helping out in the kitchen or outside near the BBQ grill.
Aprons for kids could be purchased for school or home use and also come in unique holiday or special occasion styles like birthday girl or boy; Christmas; Thanksgiving; helping mommy or helping daddy, Easter and Valentines Day.
